Let’s face it, one of our worst fears wearing makeup in hot weather is having our brows melt down our face!
I’ve a couple of favourite make up bits that I thought I’d share with you that stay in place, so when your feeling all sweaty and hot your makeup won’t look like it.
Firstly a product I can’t live without, Mac “Prep n Prime” illuminating primer. I didn’t check in a bag so I just pumped a bit into a small container enough to do me the week. I just apply a small bit of this all over my face right before my foundation.
Next up foundation. I am one pale girl like 9 months of the year. I don’t normally wear fake tan either so my regular foundations are quite pale too. Normally Mac “Studio Fluid Fix” in nc15 is my every day but if on a rare occasion I’m wearing tan I’ve a darker one, I’ve brought away nc20 but I’m got a good colour so finding it a little too light now.
Not to worry I’ve my Body Shop darkening Shade Adjusting Drops. Just the most genius creation ever!! They also have lightening drops, and Drops of Sun, to create a holiday glow look and soon to come out, Drops of glow.
I just add a drop or two to my foundation, give it a mix then apply it. I love the colour tone of this as I find sometimes if I buy a darker foundation they always tend to look more orange than tan. It gives more of an olive tone rather than the tango look.
Next I do my brows. Recently I am really liking this little palette from Artistry. The colour shade matches me well and I love that there are two shades of shadow as well as the waxy gel product too. I just feel it helps gives more dept to my brows. This stuff stays on all day. I was wearing it to work when we’re had our little heat wave and ironically our air con decided not to work for that week but it lasted through that. It worked treat over on holidays too in the hot weather at night. I would definitely recommend it.
For my highlight & contour I’m using my new favourite makeup item, the Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter palette in the shade light to medium. This is your one stop shop for all things contour, concealing, correcting and highlighting all in one, it’s a small and slim container but the products aren’t in anyway skimpy.
On holidays I used the powder contour as I’m keeping my makeup quite simple but will be definitely be using the cream contour for nights out at home.
It’s so great having everything all in one place, it means you’ll never forget your bronzer etc and takes up very little room in the makeup bag, saving more room all the lipsticks I like to pop in there but never wear!!
Speaking of lipsticks, this one from The Body Shop is just the perfect shade for me. I looks quite pink but it’s actually the same colour as my lips so it’s a perfect pinky nude for me. This lippy is so comfortable to wear and and even though it’s a matte it never leaves my lips feeling dry or sore. It’s shade 420 Honolulu. (Cutest lipstick shade name ever! Am I right?)
Another product I probably use the most more than a regular lipstick is this The Lip & Cheek Stain also from the body shop. It’s always by my side, I love the colour, shade 037 Rose.
I just run it across my lips and press it in and add some to my cheeks for a natural blush look.
A little tip, apply a tiny amount to the tip of your nose, I think it gives a real healthy and fresh look, very Meghan Markle.
For Eyeshadow there was no question what to bring… the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette, it had every colour you need to create a dramatic eye or just apply one colour for a more natural look. These shadows are so easy to blend and don’t crease.
I simply just spritz this all over my face once I’m finished my make up and I’m good to go. It keeps my look in place and also feels really hydrating on the skin. It’s protects your makeup from moisture, wind and heat. What’s also great is that comes in a travel friendly size too!
So there’s my run down my my must have few saviour products to help when it heats up.
Until next time
